About Kate

Kate is a professional freelance writer living in the eastern suburbs of the beautiful city of Adelaide.

Born and raised in windy Wellington, New Zealand, she moved to Australia in 1989. Adelaide is a city that has stolen her heart and never given it back.

Kate has been a prolific scribbler for many years, beginning with sports articles for her local newspaper at just 16 years of age. She didn’t write for a long time after leaving school, finding that she enjoyed the challenges of working in interesting positions such as with the Chilean Embassy (Wellington), Racal-Guardata – a US company who were the first to bring EFTPOS into New Zealand during the late 1980’s, and as the EA to the Director of Public Prosecutions when she moved to Adelaide.

After the birth of her second child she rediscovered her passion for writing, venturing into short stories where she won a number of literary competitions and published several short stories.  An interest in children’s literacy led her to writing fiction for middle-grade children, publishing two novels between 2009 and 2012.

In 2015 Kate diversified into freelance writing. Studying with the Australian Writers’ Centre led her to writing feature articles for print and digital magazines and newspapers including the Advertiser’s SA Weekend edition, eventually straying into SEO content writing for business websites and news sites, along with compelling real estate copy.

Because errors leap off pages and hit her between the eyes, Kate also provides a proof-reading and copy editing service.
